Live
Subtitling (BSKYB)
IMS’s Live Subtitling Department was created in
the second half of 1999. This in-house unit was set up
at BSkyB’s headquarters in Isleworth, West London,
producing 20 hours of real-time subtitling a week on Sky’s
sports channels in its first year. In 2002, operations
were extended to include Sky News, and the unit now delivers over 200 hours of live subtitling
each week, working 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
We’re always looking for new ways to improve our
services, and IMS is at the forefront of the latest technology
and production methods. One of our newest innovations
is a speech-recognition system to handle live subtitling
for Sky. Also, because of our level of integration with
Sky’s operations we can be extremely responsive
to their needs, and ensure the quality of our product.
